Girls’ volleyball: UCLA is the big winner at U19 beach championships in Portugal
Three players headed to UCLA are still alive and will meet in the quarterfinals of the FIBA U19 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Portugal.
Zana Muno of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, committed to UCLA, and her partner Crissy Jones, a Los Alamitos grad headed to Washington, have advanced to the quarterfinals.
Their opponent will be the McNamara twins from Canada, Megan and Nicole. They turned 17 on Friday. They are committed to UCLA. They are giving up the indoor game to focus on beach volleyball.
Updated: The McNamara twins defeated Munio-Jones, 21-17, 16-21, 15-12, to advance to Sunday’s semifinals.
