Girls’ volleyball: Granada Hills is City Section title favorite
- Share via
It’s almost unanimous opinion among the City Section girls’ volleyball coaches: Granada Hills starts out as the team to beat this season.
Coach Tom Harp has won four City girls’ titles. Granada Hills is likely to be the top seed for the new Open Division playoffs that will bring together the best eight teams in the City at the end of the season.
Much of the respect for the Highlanders is because three-time All-City player Sarah Hagge returns for her senior season.
But the West Valley League is loaded with talent again. Defending City champion El Camino Real returns the imposing Kaushanna Williams along with Lauryn Anderson.
Veteran Taft Coach Arman Mercado will rely on senior Madison Pincus. Chatsworth has 6-foot Mahalia White.
Carson has a new coach in Liz Martinez, who coaches club volleyball, and she’ll be turning to returnee Chloe Fields Owens to lead the Colts in the Marine League.
There will be five playoff divisions this season, plus the Open Division. Here’s the link to the divisions.
