Girls’ basketball: Windward, Mater Dei advance to Open Division final

UCLA-bound Jordin Canada scored a career-high 27 points to lead L.A. Windward past Long Beach Poly, 62-49, in a semifinal game of the Southern Section Open Division playoffs on Saturday night. It was the second time this season Windward (24-2) has beaten the Jackrabbits.
USC-bound Kristen Simon added 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Windward will face Santa Ana Mater Dei in the championship game. Mater Dei defeated Etiwanda, 56-54, in the other semifinal.
