Football: The thrill of making a championship game

Yes, there are too many playoff divisions in the Southern Section for football. Thirteen to be precise.

And the City Section is on its way to joining the Southern Section with three divisions and counting.

But I change my opinion every time I see players competing for one of those championships and how much joy they have.

South Gate celebrated as if it had won the City Division II championship after its semifinal victory over Granada Hills last week (see video above).

So there’s some good and some bad about having too many divisions.
