Football: JSerra faces toughest nonleague game
JSerra, which has never qualified for a Pac-5 Division playoff berth competing in the tough Trinity League, will get perhaps its toughest nonleague test in Coach Jim Hartigan’s eight seasons as coach on Friday when it faces St. Bonaventure at Saddleback College.
The Lions (3-0) have looked good on offense and defense, but St. Bonaventure (2-1) will offer the kind of preparation JSerra figures to see against the likes of St. John Bosco, Mater Dei and Servite in the coming weeks.
Hartigan has one of his biggest and most experienced offensive lines, which has only made veteran quarterback Nick Robinson even better.
St. Bonaventure’s offense has good balance, led by USC-bound quarterback Ricky Town, so the Lions should find out where they stand.
It’s also an important game for seeding purposes, especially if either team is seeking an at-large playoff berth come November.
