Monday’s Southern Section football championship luncheon allowed two future Bruins, quarterbacks Josh Rosen (St. John Bosco) and Brian Gadsby (Crescenta Valley), to meet for the first time.
Rosen is set to enroll at UCLA on Jan. 2 for the winter quarter. Gadsby signed with UCLA’s baseball team and is a top pitcher who will finish out his high school career for the Falcons in the spring.
Both will be trying to lead their respective schools to Southern Section championships this weekend.
St. John Bosco plays Corona Centennial in the Pac-5 final on Saturday at Angel Stadium. Crescenta Valley plays Downey on Friday at Glendale in the Southeast Division final.
Gadsby decided to play football even though his future is in baseball. Friday’s game will be his final football game ever.
“No regrets at all,” he said. “It’s one of the greatest decisions that could have been made.”
Rosen will be trying to lead St. John Bosco to a second consecutive Pac-5 title. Before he showed up, the Braves had zero titles.
