Football: Carson’s Jabari Minix is City Section Division I player of the year

Jabari Minix, a versatile two-way player for City Section runner-up Carson, has been selected the Division I player of the year in a vote by the coaches.
Minix was forced to play quarterback in the semifinals and final after injuries to other players. He also has played receiver and defensive back. He was known for his powerful running and leadership skills.
“He sacrificed his numbers to be a good team player,” Carson Coach Kevin McCall said.
Quarterback Roman Ale of Narbonne was chosen offensive player of the year. Running back Chris Alvidrez of San Pedro was named defensive player of the year. Mike Spinosa of San Pedro and Enrique Luna of Venice were the co-offensive linemen of the year. Ricky Powell of Narbonne was the defensive lineman of the year.
In Division II, receiver Jericho Flowers of Hamilton and junior quarterback Clarence Williams of Sylmar were the co-players of the year.
In Division III, Elijah Thompson of Los Angeles was the player of the year.
