Boys’ basketball: Fourth-quarter rally propels Garfield into City Section Division II final

Down by eight points going into the fourth quarter, Garfield rallied behind the three-point shooting of Alexis Farias and Stevie Williams to pull a 49-47 victory over Granada Hills in a City Section Division II semifinal on Monday night at Granada Hills Kennedy.
With 12 seconds left, Farias, a sophomore guard, delivered the key basket, a three-pointer from the baseline, to give the Bulldogs (19-12) a two-point lead.
With 2.7 seconds left, Jacob Lilley of Granada Hills was fouled and went to the free throw line for a one-and-one. He missed the first free throw, Garfield got the rebound and that was the game. Garfield advances to Friday’s 8 p.m. final at Robal against Sylmar.
Williams, who scored Garfield’s first 11 points of the game, finished with 19 points. Farias had 11. Lilley led Granada Hills (18-12) with 16 points. In the fourth quarter. Williams and Farias each made two three-pointers.
After trailing, 25-20, at halftime, Granada Hills took a 39-31 lead going into the fourth quarter. Lilley had three baskets in the quarter.
