Baseball: Jon Escott is Cleveland ace in the making
- Share via
He’s 6 feet 2, wears size 15 shoes, will soon turn 16 and is only a sophomore at Reseda Cleveland. Jon Escott is an ace pitcher in the making. Come spring, lots of people will learn how talented the right-hander truly is.
During the summer, he had a no-hitter against Birmingham. He was one of the top pitchers at the junior varsity level as a freshman.
Cleveland made it to the City Section Division I championship game last season but graduated most of its top players. Back are junior Ben Kaser, a pitcher, and junior Austin White, a shortstop.
New Coach Scott Drootin is pleased with the young talent of the Cavaliers. He was holding a tryout on Monday, and Escott showed off the nasty slider that’s going to cause problems for hitters.
Escott is one of an impressive group of sophomore pitchers in the West Valley League that include Josh Garcia of Chatsworth and left-hander Jeremy Polon of El Camino Real.
