Top high school football games on Friday:
Los Angeles Roosevelt (5-4, 3-2) vs. Garfield (7-2, 5-0) at East Los Angeles College, 7:30 p.m.
The 80th meeting between these neighborhood rivals should bring out a crowd of more than 15,000. Garfield has wrapped up the Eastern League title, but the Bulldogs want a good City Section Division I seeding. Versatile quarterback Stevie Williams will need to avoid mistakes and create some scoring opportunities. Roosevelt gets back several players who have been sidelined with injuries, and quarterback Sammy Hernandez knows how to play well in pressure games. The pick: Garfield.
Carson (7-2, 4-0) at San Pedro (8-1, 3-1), 7 p.m.
Coming off its upset win over Narbonne, Carson has a chance to win the Marine League title outright. Jabari Minix gets another chance to show why he might be the best player in the City Section, running, receiving and making tackles. But beware of San Pedro. The Pirates have a better run defense than Narbonne and are tough to beat on their home field. The pick: San Pedro.
