PHOENIX -- Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu are set to make their Dodgers debuts today against the Chicago White Sox.
Greinke signed a six-year, $147-million contract with the Dodgers over the winter.
Shortly after, Ryu was signed to a six-year, $36-million deal. Before that, the Dodgers paid Ryu’s Korean league team $25.7 million for the right to negotiate with him.
Greinke is to start against the White Sox, followed by Ryu.
Cuban prospect Yasiel Puig is also to get his first start. Puig doubled to left field in the Dodgers’ exhibition debut on Saturday.
Dodgers Chairman Mark Walter was clearly excited by Puig, a 22-year-old whom the team signed to a seven-year, $42-million contract last year. When approached after the game, Walter said without any prompting, “Puig hit the ball hard, didn’t he? He’s got speed too.”
The Dodgers’ lineup: Mark Ellis 2B, Hanley Ramirez SS, Adrian Gonzalez 1B, Andre Ethier RF, Luis Cruz 5, Alex Castellanos CF, Tim Federowicz C, Jeremy Moore LF, Yasiel Puig DH.
Pitchers: Zack Greinke, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Peter Moylan, Josh Wall, Matt Palmer, Steven Ames, Juan Abreu.
The game, which is scheduled to start at 12:05 p.m. PST, will be broadcast on Spanish radio on 1020 AM.
