Clayton Kershaw finally gives up a run; Pirates tie it 1-1 in 7th

Nothing like Dodger Stadium to make Clayton Kershaw feel better.

Kershaw, who threw three scoreless innings in the season opener before succumbing to the flu, was back on the mound as scheduled Tuesday in the Dodgers’ home opener against the Pirates.

Can’t vouch for how he was feeling, but he was looking pretty good.

Kershaw threw six more scoreless innings before finally surrendering his first run of the season in the top of the seventh inning. The game was still tied 1-1 after 6½ innings.

Kershaw struck out seven Pirates in his first six innings before Alex Presley managed an infield single off the glove of second baseman Mark Ellis to lead off the seventh.

Andrew McCutchen followed with a base hit past Dee Gordon at shortstop. Both runners tagged and advanced on a fly to Juan Rivera in left; Rivera’s mistaken throw to third also allowed McCutchen to take second.

Matt Hague then grounded out to short, allowing Presley to score the tying run from third.

Through six innings, the Dodgers had managed only four hits against right-hander Kevin Correia.
