3 children die in Washington state fire; mother survives

reporting from CENTRALIA, Wash. — Police said Friday that a mother is the sole survivor of a house fire that killed three children overnight in southwestern Washington state.
Police in the city of Centralia said the mother and children were the only people in the two-story home when emergency responders arrived shortly before 1 a.m.

Sgt. Carl Buster of the Centralia Police Department said investigators are talking with the woman, and that authorities are working to determine a cause of the fire.
There was no word on the ages or genders of the children.
