Randi Zuckerberg’s Veterans Day tweet sparks backlash

Randi Zuckerberg, sister of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, is taking heat on Twitter for using Veterans Day to promote her new memoir.
“Dot Complicated: Untangling Our Wired Lives” was published last week. On Monday morning, Zuckerberg’s offer to give veterans a signed copy of the book was met with some disgust.
It’s called Veterans Day / Remembrance Day, not “Get my book day”, @RandiZuckerberg ... https://t.co/Mi0j54QJkg— Danny Brown (@DannyBrown) November 11, 2013
I’d like to nominate @randizuckerberg for a Purple Heart who injured herself pandering to Vets. https://t.co/ksPXjHc7FU— DogWalkBlog (@dogwalkblog) November 11, 2013
There’s still time but this from @randizuckerberg may be the worst Veterans Day tweet https://t.co/L0QlUQPVIo— Raf Sanchez (@rafsanchez) November 11, 2013
@randizuckerberg @jbrodkin I showed this to an actual vet. He had some choice words.— Nick Kolakowski (@nkolakowski) November 11, 2013
But Zuckerberg’s tweet to her more than 157,000 followers generated more backlash than did her post to her 1.7 million Facebook followers. One person who did criticize her there ended up apologizing, a fact that Zuckerberg touted in a follow-up Facebook post.
