A 19-year-old man was listed in critical condition Saturday after authorities say he stabbed himself in the neck then walked onto the 60 Freeway in Pomona and was hit by a car.
The 19-year-old man from Goodyear, Ariz., was rushed to Los Angeles Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man was suffering from a self-inflicted stab wound to his neck from a broken glass or bottle when he began walking on the right shoulder of the westbound 60 Freeway west of Third Street about 4:40 p.m., the CHP said.
The man then walked onto the freeway and was hit by a car. Authorities consider the incident a suicide attempt and the driver was uninjured and was not arrested.
The investigation is ongoing.
