An officer-involved shooting in South Gate was under investigation Tuesday, authorities said.
The shooting happened in the 13400 block of Paramount Boulevard about 8:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which is handling the investigation.
One man was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound, said Vanessa Lozano, a spokeswoman with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Lozano said she did not know the extent of the man’s injuries.
Deputy Kimberly Alexander, a spokeswoman with the Sheriff’s Department, said no officers were injured in the shooting. It was unclear what led to the shooting or whether the suspect was armed.
All northbound and southbound lanes of Paramount Boulevard will be closed for an extended period of time while officials investigate at the scene, authorities said.
