Authorities identify man struck, killed on freeway in Irvine
Orange County coroner officials on Tuesday released the name of a man who was killed when he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross the southbound 405 Freeway in Irvine.
Gabino Sanchez, 52, of Lake Forest was pronounced dead by paramedics who responded to the incident Monday night, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
The incident south of Irvine Center Drive was reported shortly after 9 p.m., authorities said.
A spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol said it was not immediately known why Sanchez was trying to cross the freeway.
