An 81-year-old former school teacher in San Bernardino County has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing two girls when they were between 7 and 10 years old, law enforcement officials said Tuesday.
Paul Chapman allegedly abused the victims at his home in Rancho Cucamonga, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
“Investigators believe the abuse occurred at various times between 2007 and 2011,” department officials said in a statement.
Officials said Chapman was a teacher for the Chaffey Joint Union High School district between 1960 and 1997. He was being held in lieu of $1-million bail at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of continuous sexual abuse of a child, lewd acts with a child and oral copulation of a child.
The Sheriff’s Department is asking that anyone with information about alleged sexual abuse involving Chapman to call Det. Gary Esmond at (909) 477-2800.
