Earthquake: 2.5 quake strikes near Val Verde

A shallow magnitude 2.5 earthquake was reported Monday evening five miles from Val Verde, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:25 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.6 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 6 miles from Santa Clarita, 8 miles from Castaic and 9 miles from Simi Valley.
In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
