6 great snacks to make for Super Tuesday
For political junkies, watching tonight’s Super Tuesday primary results is the equivalent of catching the best of sports playoffs. Super Tuesday promises to give us a much better picture of the presidential race going forward. This will probably take a while, so you’ll need some munchies — or at least something to soak up the drinks, whether they be celebratory or not. Here are six great snacks, perfect for a night of political television-watching:
Almonds, almond oil, dried rosemary, a touch of cayenne and salt are all you need to make this classic snack. Plan to make a double-batch of this recipe -- these tasty little nuts will go quickly.
Philly cheesesteak lettuce cups
Want rich Philly cheesesteak but looking for a diet-friendly option? These treats have all the flavor, with a fraction of the calories.
Take large white mushrooms and stuff them with a medley of sauteed onion and shallot, breadcrumbs, fresh parsley and grated Parmesan and Gruyere cheeses. Hungry yet?
If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, try this peel ‘n’ eat shrimp recipe for large Mexican white shrimp steamed in a spicy beer reduction. They take time to marinate, so you’ll need to plan ahead.
Garbanzo beans may be the first thing you think of when it comes to hummus, but there are so many ways to switch up the flavors and character of this favorite dip. In addition to garbanzo beans -- also known as chickpeas -- add black beans to this variation, flavoring the dip with notes of garlic, tahini, lemon and cumin, along with a touch or more of cayenne for heat.
The crunchy, deep-fried wings are glazed in a sticky-sweet soy reduction that gets its tang from fresh ginger. No dipping sauce necessary.
