Johnny Depp cake: 5 1/2 feet of cake and icing in the shape of Jack Sparrow

Ever wondered what an almost life-size cake version of Johnny Depp would look like? Lara Clarke, an amateur baker from England, decided to find out.

Clarke created a 5-foot-5 Jack Sparrow cake for the Cake International competition in Birmingham. She got the idea while she was watching a “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie and a friend called and said she should enter the competition.

The cake, which took 90 hours to make, features the character’s dreadlocks, bandanna, full pirate outfit and a devious smirk.

Clarke, who works for a bingo website, started baking only two years ago. She claims she learned her baking and decorating skills from watching YouTube videos.

Clarke will find out whether her Johnny Depp cake was enough to win when the results are announced Sunday.
