For Valentine’s Day, Conan O’Brien helps news anchors say ‘I love you’

If you watch local news, especially in the days before Valentine’s Day, then chances are good you’ve heard this phrase: “Those with a special someone may look to their mobile device to help them say ‘I love you.’”

Sound familiar? If not, it definitely will after watching this segment from Thursday night’s “Conan” in which Conan O’Brien once again pointed out the depressing sameness of local news around that country with prepackaged stories that various anchors read with varying degrees of inflection.

Do they put the emphasis on “special someone?” Or maybe “I love you.”

In just under two minutes, the “Conan” team goes through 30 different local news affiliates introducing the exact same segment about love in the digital age using the exact same words.

It may seem robotic and insincere, and if you’re prone to loneliness or depression on this particular holiday, then it may just emphasize your feelings that all romance is gone from the world.

Or it could just be another reason to dislike local TV news. Either way, here’s Conan’s collection of anchors saying, “I love you.” Without the assistance of their mobile device.
