ASAP Rocky to release ‘druggy, ambient’ instrumental album

ASAP Rocky’s skills on the microphone -- and as a fashion plate -- are what earned him a spot at Power 106’s all-star PowerHouse concert, set to bring a bill that also includes Future, Big Sean and Chris Brown to the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday night.
But now the New York rapper is cultivating a different talent: as a producer.
According to MTV, ASAP Rocky will release an instrumental album this summer titled “Beauty and the Beast: Slowed Down Sessions, Chapter 1.”
“It’s really druggy, ambient [stuff],” he said. “It’s slowed down and it’s real vibey, with no lyrics.” The MC went on to describe the album -- which he said he plans to release for free online -- as a mixture of “classical beautiful music” and “boom-bap Wu-Tang” beats.
TIMELINE: Summer’s must see concerts
“I think people are gonna be intrigued by it because it’s actually good,” he continued. “I wouldn’t do nothing that I didn’t feel confident or comfortable about.”
ASAP Rocky co-produced several cuts on his 2013 major-label debut, “Long Live ASAP,” including the appealingly woozy “Suddenly” (explicit lyrics).
