Meme culture strikes again. In a confluence of two topics hot (with ironic italics) on the Internet right now, model Emily Ratajkowski, most recently seen undressed and dancing in Robin Thicke’s controversial “Blurred Lines” music video, has been cast in a role in the anticipated adaptation of the novel “Gone Girl.”

Director David Fincher is bringing together an increasingly odd collection of talent for his telling of the tale by Gillian Flynn, who is adapting her own novel for the screen. Ben Affleck stars as a man implicated in the disappearance of his wife, played by Rosamund Pike.

Tyler Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, Kim Dickens and Patrick Fugit have all been previously reported as having supporting roles.

“Gone Girl” is being produced by Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Panadrea along with Leslie Dixon. That puts a slightly different spin on the casting of Ratajkowski, perhaps away from the apocryphal stories of producers trawling music videos for dates, as once seen in the acidic Hollywood tale “Swimming With Sharks” starring Kevin Spacey.

The London-born, 21-year-old Ratajkowski, who previously appeared in an episode of ‘iCarly,’ will also be seen in an episode of the Zooey Deschanel TV comedy, “New Girl.”
