Musical summit meetings of this kind simply don’t happen very often. Wayne Shorter and his nimble quartet have long qualified as appointment viewing for music fans, and the recently released live album “Without a Net” only confirms his standing as true jazz royalty. Here he teams with next-generation jazz favorite (and 2011 Grammy winner for best new artist) Esperanza Spalding for a piece the saxophonist wrote specifically for her backed by the L.A. Philharmonic. Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 S. Grand Ave., L.A. Sat., 8 p.m. Sold out. https://www.laphil.com.
