Elle magazine celebrated its 19th Women in Hollywood Awards on Monday, welcoming 2012’s class of ladies and their famous supporters to the Four Seasons Beverly Hills.
Cate Blanchett, Susan Sarandon, Emma Watson, Octavia Spencer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Elle Fanning, Kristen Wiig, Uma Thurman and Shirley MacLaine were toasted for iconic performances and off-camera efforts -- and a few boys were allowed.
Like Robert Pattinson, who came to give Thurman her prize. The pair costarred in the period drama “Bel Ami,” and Rob extolled Thurman’s talent and generosity in his remarks, a task he struggled a bit with.
“Never let me give another speech,” he joked, going on and off the teleprompter. Prior to the ceremony, cocktails awaited Pattinson alongside folks like Lake Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rashida Jones, Gary Marshall, Emma Stone and Anna Kendrick.
Parker stuck close to “Sex and the City” creator Michael Patrick King and her power agent Kevin Huvane, while Octavia had plenty of help from the women of “The Help” in Allison Janney, Stone and Viola Davis.
Washed in pristine white, the sitdown dinner was marked with bright floral arrangements and plenty of champagne.
Wiig was a scene stealer, following Judd Apatow’s introduction with what she called “something from the heart.”
“Something actually kind of serious and truthful,” Wiig said. “I have not pooped in four days.”
Aside from her, uh, intestinal issues, she credited “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels for giving her a start, and the women beside her, like her “Bridesmaids” co-writer Annie Mumolo.
Calvin Klein and L’Oreal goodies awaited guests in gift bags as the ballroom emptied close to 11 p.m., only the honorees lingering for photos and some mutual admiration on stage with Elle editor-in-cheif Robbie Myers.
