‘Fraggle Rock’ will return to dancing its cares away over at HBO

Get ready to dance — or work — your cares away because Jim Henson’s classic Muppet TV series “Fraggle Rock” is headed back to HBO in HD.
“Fraggle Rock,” which aired from 1983 to 1987 on HBO, features a cast of puppet creatures called Fraggles, Doozers and Gorgs. The carefree Fraggles spend most of their time playing, exploring and having fun while the smaller, more industrious Doozers spend most of their time building.
The 96-episode series has been digitally remastered by Los Angeles-based postproduction and film restoration studio illuminate. In addition to airing on HBO at the end of this year, “Fraggle Rock” in HD will also be available on HBO Go, HBO Now and HBO on Demand.

“In remastering the series, illuminate has created a contemporary look for the series with meticulous attention paid to every detail — sharpening the images, cleaning up the contrast, increasing the vibrancy of the colors and re-formatting for wide-screen — all under the careful supervision of Brian Henson,” said Richard Goldsmith, executive vice president of global distribution for the Jim Henson Co., in a news release.
“HBO was the initial home for the U.S. premiere of Fraggle Rock in 1983, and it’s fitting that the network premieres this beautifully remastered version of the series,” said Goldsmith.
