‘Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro pleads guilty to driving drunk

“Cake Boss” star Buddy Valastro has pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while ability-impaired by alcohol, stemming from his arrest in New York last month.

The TLC reality star and Carlo’s Bakery owner entered his plea to DWAI rather than DWI in New York Court on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

Valastro, real name Bartolo Valastro Jr., was arrested and charged with drunk driving last month after police pulled over the famed baker’s yellow Corvette and smelled alcohol on him.

The complaint said Valastro’s blood-alcohol content measured 0.09%, which is above the state’s legal limit of 0.08%.

In New York, DWAI is a violation, not a crime, and Valastro’s license will be suspended for three months, AP said. It’s defined as driving with a BAC between 0.05% and 0.07%.

The reality star was sentenced to a conditional discharge and ordered to pay a $300 fine, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office told E! News. He must also complete a drunk-driving program.

After entering the plea, the 37-year-old New Jersey resident took to Twitter to apologize and make his case.

“I want to thank everyone for their support. I also want to apologize to everyone,” he wrote, explaining that he pleaded guilty because he “wanted to make this right.”

“I learned an important lesson that if you have even one drink you shouldn’t drive,” he said, adding, “I thought I was fine to drive, but I wasn’t. I put people in danger. I am very disappointed in myself.”

Then Valastro vowed to “never get behind the wheel of a car again, even after one sip. My sincerest apologies to my family, friends and fans.”
