The Nielsen ratings agency checked under the tree (and online) to examine digital holiday music preferences and found that Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is apparently all pop music fans want to listen to on the Internet. The song is the most streamed of the season, with 662,000 plays, Nielsen reported.

On YouTube, the 2009 Christmas track has logged as much mileage as Santa’s sleigh, with nearly 48 million streams. That doesn’t include the 7 million listens for the version recorded in the “Late Night” music room with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots playing children’s instruments such as a Fisher Price xylophone, ukulele and kazoo.
Those who hear Bobby Helm’s 1957 classic “Jingle Bell Rock” while waiting in checkout lines aren’t alone. Nielsen reports that song has been dominating the airwaves, with some 12,000 spins.
