The outdoor summer screenings series “Silents Under the Stars” at the Paramount Ranch in Agoura Hills kicked off its 27th season last month with a “Charlie Chaplin’s Tramp Centennial.” And on Aug. 17, “Silents” presents “The Last Warning,” a 1929 chiller that reunited director Paul Leni and actress Laura La Plante, who had worked together on the 1927 hit thriller “The Cat and the Canary.” Sponsored by the National Park Service, Hollywood Heritage and the Silent Society, the screening series features live musical accompaniment by Michael Mortilla. Patrons are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and a flashlight because of limited lighting in the parking area. Admission is $3-$6. For more information go to www.hollywoodheritage.com.
