A shooting on the southbound 110 Freeway before dawn shut down all lanes in Gardena for nearly six hours during the morning commute, the California Highway Patrol said Wednesday.
The CHP received notice shortly before 4 a.m. of shots fired near Redondo Beach Boulevard, Officer Peter Nicholson said.
A SigAlert was issued half an hour later, noting that the southbound lanes were closed amid police activity.
A crash and a car fire on the northbound 110 at Redondo Beach Boulevard were also reported, officials said.
News reports indicated a failed drug deal led to both the crash and the shooting. CHP officials, however, refused to confirm those details.
All lanes of the 110 Freeway reopened just before 9:55 a.m.
