Former Charger Mike Tolbert hands off his Mediterranean-style home in San Diego

Mike Tolbert is moving on from his digs in San Diego.

The NFL fullback’s Mediterranean-style home in the Scripps Ranch area sold this month for $1.78 million. Tolbert, who played for the Chargers from 2008-2011, bought the home in 2015 for $2.22 million, records show.

The half-acre property includes a swimming pool and spa, a fire pit, a turf field and a basketball half-court. Views from the site take in the surrounding mountains.

Inside, a two-story foyer holds a wrought-iron staircase. The vaulted entry opens to a formal dining room on the left and and a billiards room on the right. Both rooms are outfitted with hardwood floors, exposed beam ceilings and Sanibel Coastal Reef walls.

Further in, a center-island kitchen features granite countertops and a custom backsplash. Adjacent to the kitchen is a family room with a fireplace and a built-in aquarium. Glass doors in both spaces lead to the backyard, where a guest house borders the pool.

Five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms complete the two-story home’s 6,057 square feet of interior.

Daniel Beer of Keller Williams Realty represented both the buyer and seller, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Tolbert, 32, was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2008 before signing with the Carolina Panthers, where he was elected to three Pro Bowls. Last offseason, he inked a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.
