Kickstarter releases iPhone app to fund, keep track of projects

Kickstarter is making it easier for iPhone users to back projects from their phones with its new app released Thursday.
The popular crowd-sourcing platform said the new app is also compatible with the iPod Touch. Kickstarter said the app is primarily designed to help users discover new projects, stay up to date on projects they’ve backed and provide useful tools for project creators.
“We took things we’ve learned from the past three years of building the site, and applied them to a total redesign for the iPhone,” the company said in a blog announcing the app.

Users can find projects just as they do online or they can also look for projects near them based on their location.
Among the useful features for creators is using the app to take and instantly upload photos and videos to share as updates with their project backers.
The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. No word on when a similar app will be released for Android phones.
