Week ahead for Dodgers
Monday through Wednesday: at San Francisco Giants
Friday through Sunday: at Arizona Diamondbacks
The baseball world snickered last winter when the San Francisco Giants spent $3 million on their designated big bat … er, Aubrey Huff? The Giants would be his fifth team in five years, and he would be coming off a season in which he batted .241, with a .691 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage). So give the Giants credit for one of the most effective signings last winter. Huff started this season at first base, then moved to the outfield to accommodate phenom Buster Posey. Huff is batting .295, through Friday, with a .915 OPS that ranks third in the National League West, behind Adrian Gonzalez and Andre Ethier. Matt Kemp is batting .257, with his .775 OPS not good enough to rank among the top 50 in the NL.
