at Philadelphia 5-1, New York 4-0: Brad Lidge, temporarily deposed as the Phillies’ closer last week, got his 29th save in the opener. Pedro Martinez pitched eight shutout innings in the nightcap to complete the sweep.
at San Diego 7, Colorado 3: Tony Gwynn drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in a three-run sixth.
at Chicago 5, Cincinnati 2: Ted Lilly pitched six scoreless innings.
Washington 7, at Florida 2 (8 1/2 innings): John Lannan won for the first time in seven starts.
Milwaukee 5, at Arizona 3: Prince Fielder homered and has 126 RBIs, tying the Brewers’ season record.
Pittsburgh 2, at Houston 1: The Pirates ended their 13-game road losing streak.
at San Francisco 7, Dodgers 2: The Giants moved within 4 1/2 games of Colorado in the wild-card standings.
