FEEDBACK
While there is no question that Kenneth Turan and Betsy Sharkey are superb film critics, I do feel compelled to question their omission of “(500) Days of Summer” in their list. (“The Best of 2009 (So Far),” Aug. 30).
This is film acting, writing and directing at its best and on a subject, the search for love, that is too often cliched even in independent filmmaking, not to mention mainstream movies (“The Proposal,” “The Ugly Truth”). This wise, exultant film gave me the same lift offered by “Up,” another treatise on love that Turan and Sharkey included among the best. At least I can be grateful neither saluted Quentin Tarantino’s over-hyped, overheated and overacted late summer mishmash, “Inglourious Basterds.”
