Re “Westside subway is reaffirmed,” Oct. 23, and “Legislators challenge mayor on Westside subway funding,” Oct. 21
Very disappointing to hear that the “subway to the sea” is facing challenges.
Wilshire Boulevard is no doubt L.A.’s main street. There you will find places of employment including office buildings, restaurants, hotels, hospitals and banks as well as attractions including museums, theaters, UCLA and the Pacific Ocean. The route would be used by workers, shoppers and tourists alike.
Planners will tell you the two most important criteria for building any subway line are density and adjacent land use that would benefit -- both of which Wilshire Boulevard has in abundance. The Wilshire subway should be at the top of the funding list; without it, L.A. will never be the world-class city it could be.
