The U.S. military says an American soldier has been killed in a vehicle accident in northern Iraq. The military says the soldier was killed Sunday five miles west of the northern city of Mosul.
The name of the soldier was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The military said in a statement that the accident was under investigation.
The death raises to at least 4,350 the number of U.S. military personnel who have died in the Iraq war since it began in March 2003, according to the independent website icasualties.org.
