An Ojai school bus driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after her bus collided with a pickup truck Wednesday while ferrying children to school during her morning run, authorities said.
Several dozen children were on board the Ojai Unified School District bus, but no injuries were reported, the California Highway Patrol said.
Kim Fullenwider, 53, was driving in the Live Oak Acres area when the accident occurred about 7:30 a.m., the CHP said. She made a U-turn in front of an approaching pickup, whose driver tried to stop but hit the rear of the bus.
Fullenwider has been driving for the school district for 19 years. She was booked at Ventura County Jail on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, driving with a 0.08% or higher blood-alcohol level and child endangerment, according to jail records.
