Former Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian has been hospitalized after a three-day hunger strike at a detention center in Taipei, Taiwan’s capital, a TV station reported.
Chen has been detained since December on corruption charges. His trial is now underway.
He said in a statement this week that he was on a hunger strike to protest what he called his political persecution by the administration of President Ma Ying-jeou.
