ANGELS / THE WEEK AHEAD

Monday through Wednesday: Rockies at Angel Stadium
Friday through June 28: Diamondbacks at Phoenix
Jon Garland has not done well since leaving the Angels, on or off the field. He was 14-8 with a 4.90 earned-run average for the Angels last season, but he unwisely declined their offer of salary arbitration. So, instead of assuring himself of a salary similar to the $12 million he made last season, he ended up signing with the Diamondbacks for $6.25 million. He’s 4-7 with a 4.99 ERA and has not won since May 19. His contract includes a $2.5-million buyout, which could complicate the efforts of the last-place Diamondbacks to trade him by the July 31 deadline.
