Murder, romance in mind

Mind if we talk about: the finale of “Harper’s Island”?
Ratings went down the tubes, yes. But those who’ve kept up have been rewarded. Who knew CBS could get so gooey and gory on a non-cop show? My bet is still on our toothy islander Jimmy being Wakefield’s murdering buddy. (The bride would be too inexplicable, and the flower girl would be, well, too good to be true.) (Saturday)

Let’s all talk about: “The Princess Bride”
Remember when romantic comedies looked like this one? Oh, that’s right. They never have. Which is why you should take this opportunity to re-watch Rob Reiner’s outrageous swashbuckling masterpiece “The Princess Bride” on the big screen. (That’s right, I said it: Not “Sleepless in Seattle.”) Get thyself to the Aero by 7:30 p.m. (Today)

. . . but should we talk about: “I Love You, Beth Cooper”?
Director Chris Columbus returns to his teen movie roots with this comedy about a geeky guy who professes his love for the hottest girl in school (Hayden Panettiere) during graduation -- and is surprised the next day when she decides to show him the best night of his life. Could it be the long-awaited follow to “Adventures in Babysitting” . . . or should we not get our hopes up? (Friday)

Time to talk about: Death Cab for Cutie
Match made in heaven? The indie-pop Seattle band will be backed by the L.A. Phil tonight at the Hollywood Bowl. And they’ve brought like-minded Canadian acts -- the New Pornographers and twins Tegan and Sara -- along for the show. Summer lovin’, indeed. (Today)

Could be good to talk about: “Warehouse 13”
In the new Sci Fi Channel series (or is it now Syfy?), a pair of U.S. Secret Service agents are whisked away to a covert location in South Dakota that houses supernatural objects the government has collected over the centuries. Their new assignment? Collect and investigate incoming objects. “Fringe” is must-watch in the fall. Perhaps “Warehouse” could be a good off-season companion. (Tuesday)
