In a brief turn on the stand at her father’s retrial, Phil Spector’s daughter cast doubt Monday on the testimony of a prosecution witness.
Nicole Spector, 26, testified that Dorothy Melvin, a former girlfriend of the music producer, continued to travel with Spector after the time she alleges he threatened her with a gun.
In November, Melvin told jurors that after the July 1993 incident, she made a point of never being alone with the producer again.
But Nicole Spector said that she remembered accompanying her father and Melvin on a weeklong trip to Toronto later that year.
Melvin is one of five women who testified that Spector, 69, terrorized them with firearms in the decades leading up to the fatal shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at the music producer’s Alhambra mansion in 2003.
Spector’s daughter also testified that years after the trip to Canada, Melvin told her she wanted a closer relationship with him.
“She was distraught because she wasn’t reciprocated in contact,” Nicole Spector said.
Spector faces 18 years in prison if convicted. His defense argues that Clarkson shot herself.
