‘Crazy’ cuts

Re “Budget impasse hits hard for many,” Feb. 1
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s proposed budget cuts for state mental health services are simply crazy and will endanger our community.
If it were not for the services available through the Mental Health Services Act, the life of our schizophrenic loved one would be tragically different. If it were not for these programs, we would have little hope for the future or for our loved one’s recovery.
The proposal to raid the Mental Health Services Act to fund the state budget shortfall is cruel and is no way for a civilized society to treat the weakest among us.
We refuse to accept these proposed cuts and urge the governor to listen to the voices of voters who made these funds available.
