Militants blew up a 100-foot iron bridge in northwestern Pakistan’s Khyber Pass today, cutting the main route for supplies bound for Western forces in Afghanistan, a government official said.
Government official Rahat Gul said it would take some time to repair the bridge, about 15 miles west of Peshawar.
The Khyber Pass isn’t the only route for supplies to Afghanistan. A second route runs through Pakistan, and the U.S. agreed in January with Russia and several neighboring Central Asian nations to ship supplies through their territory.
