Military deaths
The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan:
Serge Kropov, 21, of Hawley, Pa.; private first class, Marine Corps. Kropov died Dec. 20 in a nonhostile incident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego.
Omar G. Roebuck, 23, of Moreno Valley; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Roebuck died Tuesday in a nonhostile incident in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Albert D. Ware, 27, of Chicago; sergeant, Army. Ware was killed Dec. 18 when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in the Arghandab River Valley in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, on the Pakistani border. He was assigned to the 782nd Combat Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
