Sierra Leone’s High Court has jailed and slapped fines worth millions of dollars on a group of 15 people for smuggling 1,545 pounds of cocaine into the West African country last year.
Judge Nicholas Browne Marke jailed the foreigners, four Colombians, a Mexican, an American and a Togolese-Cuban, for five years and fined them $1.5 million to $5 million each in a court hearing. Eight Sierra Leoneans will also spend five years in jail, but were given smaller fines.
