Neighborhood rivals Royal and Simi Valley to play

Why it matters: Besides being neighborhood rivals, Simi Valley and Royal are battling for first place in the Marmonte League. Simi Valley, the defending Southern Section Division I champion, has two brothers who are making an impact in freshman Nick Vigo and junior Dennis Vigo. UC Irvine-bound Drew Sandler will be on the mound for the Pioneers. Royal has Pepperdine-bound Cody Buckel (3-1, 1.48 earned-run average) ready to go.
