Two teenagers were killed Tuesday when the car they were traveling in crashed into a tree in Orange County, authorities said.
The incident was reported about 1:40 p.m. on Trabuco Canyon Road, which winds through the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains in the unincorporated community of Trabuco Canyon.
The pair, ages 16 and 18, died at the scene, said California Highway Patrol Officer Gabe Montoya. The teenagers were the only people in the car, a Mustang, and the crash did not appear to have involved any other vehicles, he said.
Authorities believe high speed may have been a factor in the accident.
