CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / LOS ANGELES

When Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa gives his State of the City speech April 12, he’ll have an automatic cheering section. Villaraigosa’s mayoral campaign sent out invitations to supporters and campaign volunteers, saying 100 seats have been reserved for them.
“Your hard work and dedication has made it possible for the mayor to continue the work of bringing people together to take on Los Angeles’ toughest challenges,” the e-mailed invite says.
